Each grade is engineered for a specific substrate and application. Hardness on the Mohs scale signals how aggressively the media works without ever crossing the line into substrate damage.

Best for Critical medical devices, surgical instruments, and precision tooling. A premium Poly Allyl Diglycol Carbonate (CR-39) thermoset — engineered for exceptional surface integrity. Also cleans chrome-plated molds, feed screws, and deflashes electronic components without harm.

The U.S. Department of Defense detail specification for plastic abrasive blast media.

MIL-DTL-85891C establishes performance, classification, and quality requirements for plastic media used in military and aerospace coating removal — where aggressive cleaning is required but substrate integrity cannot be compromised.

AeroBlast Type II, Type III, and Type V media are qualified to MIL-DTL-85891C — authorizing their use across flightline maintenance, depot-level refurbishment, and component-level finishing on both military and commercial aerospace platforms.

Procurement Continuity Buyers whose specifications reference prior revisions in the MIL-DTL-85891 series may specify AeroBlast Type II, III, or V media as direct successors under the current MIL-DTL-85891C revision — no product substitution required.
